Last week's Long Haul Potluck-Meeting

G for Gauche...

After much animated discussion the majority voted for Gauche
as our word for this year's thematic art show.
As you can see, Galactic came very close, as did Gel.
Poor Gord just never quite made it past the starting line...

Pretty good turn out eh?

Kate invited some guy to the meeting.
Other than Val, we all agreed it was pretty gauche of him to bring his kitten.

In March, I will once again participate in the Artist Project - Toronto art fair. Each year they chose a different theme for competition - this year's theme is CHOCOLATE. Shelley Miller with a new project in Brazil

These are the kind of rubber stamps most of us are familiar with. But what becomes of the lowly rubber stamp when it is put into the hands of an artist? Six artists who have exhibited their work at the Visual Voice Art Gallery during the 2007/2008 season tried their hands at creating artworks on paper using rubber stamps, each one interpreting this simple printing method in their own, distinctive style.

Alum Update

I'm in the end-of-semester crunch time of my first term in the MFA program at The University of Western Ontario in London. I've read a ton of dense theory, and done a little bit of art-making.

The most exciting work I've been up to has been making collaborative drawings with local artists Peter Thompson and James Kirkpatrick. We've made some zines of these, and I've made some of my solo drawings as well, and sent them off to the Montreal Expozine: Nov. 29-30, 12 pm to 6 pm at 5035 St-Dominique (Église Saint-Enfant Jésus, between St-Joseph and Laurier, near Laurier Métro).

Exposition DEUX UNIVERS

Stephen H Kawai will be showing mobiles from two series, “Spheres” and “Flora”, in a solo show entitled DEUX UNIVERS. The vernissage will be on Thursday, Dec 4 (6–9 pm). DLAC (David Ludmer Art Contemporain) is in a loft project located in a tract of the Mile End/Parc Ex entirely bordered by railroad tracks. I would GoogleMap “David Ludmer Montreal” to find it. The exposition will continue to the end of December (by appointment).
